Smashed Phone? You're Not Alone...

Are you currently living with a cracked or shattered phone screen?

If so, you’re definitely not alone; according to Motorola, at least 21% of the global population are.

Here in the UK, we check our smartphones 85 times a day on average and with simple drops identified as the No.1 cause of shattered screens, it seems to be only a matter of time before our devices crack under the pressure.

If you’re a current screen smash victim and you don’t want to sell your broken phone, don’t worry. You have lots of other options. Here's a few to put you at ease.

Pay to get your screen replaced

The most efficient yet pricey solution at around £150. Shop around for your best repair quote both online and in-store, but remember, some phone manufacturers will void your warranty if you choose anyone but them to mend it. If you need a quick fix, you can turn your break into something positive by contacting Cracked It – a social enterprise that trains young people between the ages of 16 and 25 to repair cracked phone screens.

A risky, yet increasingly popular option. There are 100s of online tutorials and self-help kits available, or you could even join one of The Restart Project’s fun ‘Fixing Parties’ which aim to prevent electronic waste by teaching people how to repair their own devices.

Wait out

If you can bear it, wait for your upgrade. Chances are that your phones functionality won’t be affected, so whether to rush for a repair will be a question of aesthetics. You could always maintain a discrete profile whilst you wait for your upgrade with a Snakehive Wallet Case.

Plan ahead

Once you’ve got yourself a new screen, your top priority will be to protect it from future damage. Snakehive's top tip would be to invest in a Tempered Glass screen protector. Tempered glass or toughened glass is 5x stronger than normal glass and is most commonly used in car windows and double-glazing. As a phone screen shield, it is a light, affordable and practically invisible option which offers maximum protection.
